Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, is an off campus college located in Pitampura. It was founded in the year 1984, as the second college of commerce affiliated to the University of Delhi. It got named after the tenth guru of Sikhism, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and is sponsored by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee. Owing to the Sikh background of the college, it also provides admissions on the basis of Sikh minority quota, which majorly contributes to the crowd of this college and gives out Punjabi vibes.
The college is very aesthetically designed and has a well-maintained infrastructure, which includes a spacious auditorium, a well-stocked library, widespread grounds, a small CCD outlet and an air conditioned canteen. Courses BBE, BMS and PGDIM are exquisitely separated from all the other courses through a green, leafy trail. There is a Gurudwara inside the campus. Students often visit the Gurudwara to seek blessings or to just sit in solitude and find their inner peace. The interesting part is that ‘Langar’ is served every month. Amusingly enough, the students of GGS have named two points of their college as ‘Richer’s and Beggar’s points, wherein, they sit and chill on the floor at the beggar’s point and are provided with the privilege of sitting on parapets at the Richer’s point.
GGS is very popular for its cultural societies that perform every now and then in the events of the college. From Misba Dance Crew to The Folking Desi, these societies keep the students entertained and have also earned a decent name in the entire University. While getting involved in the societies, students get a lot of exposure and are offered with different kinds of opportunities, through which they learn, grow and develop as individuals. The college is full of a festive atmosphere throughout the year and there is always some or the other event happening. Along with the different departmental fests being organized throughout the course of the year, GGS hosts an exciting annual fest every year.
In their pastime, students often visit the NSP market to grab a bite from any of the different cafes and restaurants or just to explore the malls and have a good time. Dilli Haat is a go to place for almost everyone studying at GGS. One can just walk around, click pictures and shop from different stalls which are set up occasionally.
As for the transportation, Netaji Subhash Place is the nearest metro station as from there, the college is only a 5-10 minutes’ walk away. Ola and Uber cabs are also easily available in the area.
A girls’ hostel is available in the campus, but one may not necessarily get their names on the list. To solve the problem, there are several PGs and flats to rent in nearby areas like Rohini and Pitampura.
Houseitt makes the task of finding a perfect PG for you much easier by listing potential apartments and flats available according to your requirements, and what is even better is that you can rent these PGs at lesser rates starting from just INR 4500.
