Sprawling over an area of 14.5 acres, Indraprastha College for Women, Civil Lines, is one of the most prestigious and oldest women's colleges of Delhi University. Established in 1924 as a part of a nation-wide campaign for women's education and empowerment, it has a beautiful campus which is a recognized heritage site and a landmark of Delhi.
It has an enrolment of approximately 3500 students in its UG and PG programs. The college offers a wide range of courses, which promotes interdisciplinary studies in the 3 streams of humanities, mathematical sciences, and commerce with annual fees starting from INR 25000. It is the only college to offer BMMMC. For advanced learners, the college has a research methodology program and has instituted an undergraduate research grant. The college ranks among the top 10 arts colleges of India and is among the few colleges which are disabled-friendly.

It offers basic medical facilities with regular attendance of a nurse and a counselor, with access to the neighborhood hospital for medical emergencies. The college also has a mentorship program, career guidance, and placement cell.

Along with that, it has a well-stocked library with a book bank facility, an elevator for disabled students, and houses 80 computers. Over the period the library has transformed itself into a fully automated knowledge and learning resource center by leveraging extensively with all modern information and communication technologies. All the books and journals are bar-coded and supported by computerized search, issue, and return facility which makes it easier for the students. Also, the working hours of the library are flexible and thus helps the students to stay and study for quite a while.

The college has its Studio and Production Centre, Multimedia Lab and Editing Bays, a hub for community radio with world-wide broadcast facilities, an Audio-Visual Resource Centre, Seminar Rooms, State-Of-The-Art Conference Rooms, a fully air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity for 586 people and four exhibition foyers.

It has vast playgrounds and multi-facility sports infrastructure with a swimming pool, climbing wall, walking track, gymnasium, shooting range, fitness center, and a sprawling sports complex. Also, the college has its own 26 seater bus. Environment consciousness is the core agenda of the college and its heritage campus serves as a laboratory for both observation and practices. The college has a dense green cover and its biodiversity is phenomenal. Students' activities are organized around tree census, bird census, butterfly count, and a vigorous waste management program. The college uses leaves to make compost, food waste to make manure and recycles paper waste. Electronic and plastic waste is disposed of for recycling in collaboration with expert bodies. There are seven water harvesting pits on the campus. The college also grows organic vegetables.

Apart from this, IPCW has a plethora of societies. It has an International Student Desk, North Eastern Society, and an active Women's Development Cell with a Gender Sensitization Program. Other than its amazing societies, the college also shares a strategic location. The closest station to it is 'IP College' (yellow line) which is 343 meters away approximately 6 min walk from the college. Also 'Vidhan Sabha' metro station is just a 13 min walk from here.

Also, Kamla Nagar and Hudson lane are not very far from the college and hence these places are also popular amongst students. IP College is most famous for its 'Bun Tikki Wala'. It is an all-time favorite snacking point for IP girls. The Rolls Club located near the college is another delight for the students. Along with that 'Cafe 1 Up' in civil lines provides extravagant delicacies. Besides, the College incorporates two hostels namely Kalavati Gupta Hostel (KG Hostel), on its campus with 280 seats, and the Indraprastha College Women's Hostel (IP College) with an option of A.C rooms, and a total number of 500 seats and fees ranging from ₹1.24 L - ₹1.32 L yearly.
