Kirori Mal College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. Established in 1954, it is located in the North Campus of Delhi University. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in science, humanities, social science, and commerce. It ranks 19 all over India. Not a known fact about this co-ed college is that initially, the college began as Nirmala College, a boys college, and was placed on Qutub Road. Faced with problems relating to the staff in the period following the partition, the management of the college changed hands and the trust founded by Seth Kirori Mal took over. It shifted to its present campus on February 1, 1954. The foundation stones of this college were laid down by the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad in 1955.

It is no secret that the college boasts of notable alumni such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shakti Kapoor, and Kabir Khan among many others. The on-campus facilities include a bank, an ATM, a stationery shop, a sports complex, an auditorium, a well-maintained library, and even a plant nursery. One of the main attractions of the college is the Ashoka Lawn, its wide green grass has seen many students sunbathing in the Delhi winters along with many batch photos being clicked before they bid farewell.

The college possesses various societies and activities relating to drama, debate, music, fine arts, photography, astronomy, robotics, environment, dance, and film. The most famous among them are the music society "MUSOC", and the dance society "Sensation” consisting of choreography and a western wing. Putting up 2 productions each year the latter attained the university ECA quota in previous years. The Physics department has its Astronomy and Robotics Clubs which is one of the main highlights. The Photography society is yet another active society that puts on to show the wide array of talent the college and its students have to offer. Dr. N.S. Pradhan Memorial Library, the College Library is well equipped to meet the essential academic and intellectual needs of its users. It is spacious, spread on two floors, and has been renovated to make it more user friendly. Astoundingly enough, its collection consists of more than 150,000 books. The collection is continuously updated with respect to the changes in the curriculum. It subscribes to many newspapers and magazines. The Library is also connected to the Delhi University network with access to DULS databases and e-resources. Apart from this, the college also has a ‘KMC Wellness Centre’ where the services of a trained counselor are available for the benefit of both students and the staff.

Students usually go to Kamla Nagar, which is a straightway down from the front gate, or a few feet away from the back gate. Kamla Nagar is a huge market catering to the likes of shoppers and foodies alike. ”Chache Di Hatti” offers the best Chole Bhature in Delhi and is just a few minutes away from the college. Also, North Campus being entirely a student hub, safety is not a concern. You will find a plethora of opportunities to connect and mingle.

The college is centrally located in the heart of North Campus. Connectivity with metro stations and bus stops is quite easy, and most other north campus colleges are within walkable distances. There are two metro stations accessible, Vishwavidyalaya and GTB Nagar. Apart from this, E-rikshaws are sprawling far and wide and in plenty along with the entire North Campus Area.

Since the college only has a few limited seats in its only boys’ hostel, students find accommodations in PGs and flats near to the college campus, in and around Kamla Nagar. The college boys’ hostel is situated next to the sports complex of the college. Its 89 rooms provide a home to around 170 undergraduate and postgraduate students from both India and abroad. Hostel seats are allocated to various courses and admission is made based on merit. Most of the students in the college prefer flats and PG’s for their accommodation. The Flats and PG’s are available in the price ranging from INR 6000 to INR 15000.

Houseitt helps in solving the problem of finding student accommodation by providing you with a wide range of PGs and flats to choose from. The price for the same will be ranging between 6,000 INR to 14,000 INR depending on the amenities you hire.
