Zakir Husain Delhi College is the oldest existing educational institution in Delhi. With a heritage of no less than 2.5 centuries, ZHDC is one college that has memories of the Mughals as well as the Colonials in its existence. Often mistaken as a listed Muslim minority college (although it is not), it is named after Dr. Zakir Hussain, former President of India and a renowned Economist.
The college is one of the educational pillars of the erstwhile fortified city of Old Delhi. The college offers a wide range of courses across the fields of science, humanities and languages. Having one of the most affordable tuition, within a range of 7000-10000 INR, depending upon the student category, ZHDC offers one of the most academically-oriented environment amongst its peer colleges.
ZHDC houses the largest book bank across DU. From having a Canara bank branch within the campus to a "Jumma Chat Corner", the college offers an inclusive range of facilities that will help one with all the requirements. Having a fully conditioned multi-purpose auditorium with a seating capacity of about 150 people, the college is known to have hosted a lot of events, even those in collaboration with a variety of corporations and government agencies. An outdoor cafeteria with a Safal booth offers a wide range of food items with routine quality checks.
