Greater Kailash (also referred as GK) is a residential area in South Delhi. It is divided into 2 zones, namely part 1 & 2, located around a section of the outer ring road. It is one of the posh neighborhoods of Delhi and is home to some of the most affluent families of Delhi.
If you wish you can call it a little "jannat". Want to know why?? Come let's explore!!GK-I was developed in the 1960s by DLF Limited and is home to well-known politicians, business personalities and people associated with the bollywood industry.
The roads are clean and tidy with beautiful surroundings and no sign of garbage spilling around. The place is not only sparingly populated but you can easily find greenery and parks around to spend some quality time.
I don't see any drawback while choosing GK as a residential area. It was honored as being a safe place in Delhi by Times of India. If you are financially equipped, only then prefer to search for an accommodation here. Being an expensive area, it is best suited for higher income families.
Though flats and PGs are available but not in abundance. The flats are mostly 1 BHK or 2 BHK ranging from 10-12 k , having a high depending on the services. The locality is mostly preferred by families. Flats are highly furnished with best quality food, laundry and security services. It is a bliss to dwell here. If you a person who loves a calm and peaceful place, this is just the right place to opt.
The locality is safe and secure.
You won't face any issues here, as each and everything is easily accessible be it ATMs , banks , police station, nursing home, stationery or market. All the essentials are within a reach of 1-2 kms.
If you are foodie, try visiting Roadhouse cafe, Coffee bond , Big chill cafe and give a different taste to your buds. Multiple food outlets are also a couple of kilometers away followed by well-equipped gyms. But yes, if you enjoy road side food, then you have very less scope in GK.
There are some colleges in and around GK. Some of the colleges are Maulana Azad Medical College, Global institute of management, Ramanujan college, Deshbandhu college and more.
GK, is also a metro station, on magenta line, at a 10 min walking from residential areas and has an auto-rickshaw ride worth ₹ 40-50 only. E-ricks aren't allowed in GK-2.
All in all, I can say that GK is a recommended place but check your budget and then hunt for a living.
