We all know pursuing Bachelors of Management Studies (BMS) from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (SSCBS) is the best that a commerce student can get, but is it worth it to pursue the same degree from Keshav Mahavidyalaya?
Keshav Mahavidyalaya has been accredited by NAAC of Grade ‘A’ and is ranked 77 as according to NIRF 2020. Some of the major courses that it offers are Psychology (H), B. Com (H), B. Sc, (H), and BMS. In terms of campus, the college is modernly built with better classrooms than colleges in the North Campus. It has an amphitheatre, an auditorium, six lecture theatres, a basketball court, a gym, and enough grounds for some chill time on campus. Even though the college grounds aren’t as big as that of colleges in North or South Campus, but, it’s more than sufficient in all means.
BMS is one of the most prestigious courses offered by Delhi University. It is the best course for students willing to take up management positions in companies. It’s a skill-based course instead of the usual theoretical one. The exclusivity with a limited number of seats is what makes it special. If you want to take up admission in BMS/BBA (FIA)/BBE in any of the colleges of DU, you will first have to take the DU-JAT entrance exam.
SSCBS is undoubtedly the best option for pursuing the above-mentioned course but the number of seats is just a handful. The competition for the second spot is a tough one between Keshav Mahavidyalaya and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College (DDUC). While DDUC can offer better infrastructure, KMV brings to the table what DDUC can’t- experience. BMS has been in the college since the very beginning and it has been 11 years since the introduction of the course in KMV.
The faculty is extremely experienced and well versed in the course. It offers hands-on experience in managing the fests organized by the department. The Department of Management Studies conducts two annual events- C.E.O. for school students to familiarize them with the course and its structure and Cognizance for college students. The event is entirely organized by the students with the support of the faculty. Personally, working towards organizing these events is the best part of being a part of the BMS family.
“It’s a journey full of learning experiences. The ride that it is, it will take you through a plethora of emotions- we might knock the door of disappointment, happiness, excitement, and fun but we’ll never knock the door of boredom. The best thing here is that all the theoretical knowledge that usually stares at students from the books is put to practical use.” said Ishita, a second-year BMS undergraduate student at KMV.
As a second-year student myself, I can easily say that life in college is transformational. BMS will evolve your personality in ways you can’t imagine. It will give you the boost you need, polish your public speaking skills, and will help you communicate better. Even the subjects that BMS offers are more practical oriented making you adept for the corporate world.
