B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics is a three-year undergraduate program with a specialization in statistics. The program induces an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Statistics, Mathematics, and Computers aiming to promote aggregate education useful in handling social, economics, physical, and bio-sciences problems. This course exposes the students to the beautiful world of statistics and how it affects every aspect of our daily life. The course provides complete knowledge of principles and techniques related to statistics and data management to the learners.
The minimum criterion needed to get admitted into this course is a 10+2 or an equivalent degree from a recognized institution with an aggregate of 50%. Many colleges of Delhi University offer this course such as Ramjas college, Kirori mal college, Ramanujan college, Sri Venkateshwara college, etc. The cut-offs for this course are usually very high. The need to have a good understanding of mathematics for this course is very important as mathematics serves as an important subject all three years.
The subjects which are being offered under this course are Descriptive Statistics, Sampling Distribution, Survey Sampling and Indian Official Statistics, Mathematical Analysis, Statistical Inference, Linear Models, Statistical Quality Control, Stochastic Processes, and Queuing Theory, Statistical Computing Using C/C++ Programming, Design of Experiments Multivariate Analysis and Nonparametric Methods, etc.
B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics course undergraduates have plenty of options to choose from in terms of their careers. One can choose to work as a Statistician, or can also pick Data Analyst as a choice, learners can also become a Researcher or Statistical Officer furthermore.
