Just a speck on the world map with a population of 1.9 crores, Delhi is a city of “Dilliwales”. Delhi, like everything else, is a coin with two sides. It is hard to believe that the bustling city, soaring temperatures, and people drunk on work have a life beyond – an afterlife or nightlife to be precise. Delhi at night is like that last page of your favorite book- nothing makes sense without it and you try to savor it as much as you can. It offers respite to everyone who asks for shade from the scorching heat of work and pressure.
The most wonderful thing is that it has something in store for everyone- the guy who had to work a zillion hours this week, the PG mates who studied day and night for an entire fortnight, the bookworm who couldn’t get over the death of her favorite character, and the family having dinner together after a long time.
Connaught Place is literally and metaphorically the heart of the city. The life of the party or should I say Delhi, the place is a heaven for everyone looking for an escape from the burdens of the day.
The endless list of multi-cuisine restaurants and night clubs to party your worries away or just a walk around with your best mates ending with a visit to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib can seem to be life-changing at times. An ice-cream at Naturals followed by a Yulu bike ride with friends is one of the best ways to spend the night. At weekends, you will find people from the corporate world having the time of their lives singing songs till 4 in the morning, having chai under a tree somewhere.
Some of the other places to explore would be the Cyber Hub in Gurugram, Hauz Khas Village, and Khan Market.
Cyber Hub is one of the most famous hangout places for work professionals and people looking for a wide array of cafes, pubs, and restaurants. It is the abode for people in the IT sector and provides instant relief from the workload. Khan Market boasts some of the best fine-dine places and ambience. With its antique shops and lush areas, it is a great place for people who want to explore and get to know.
Delhi a little better. Hauz Khas, built around a reservoir, is the perfect blend of a heritage site with an infinite number of urban cafes.
During fest season, it is mandatory to visit the colleges on concert night to have the perfect idea of Delhi at night. North Campus can and will transport you to an entirely different world.
Another trip that can change your outlook towards Delhi, is visiting the Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah on a Thursday for a qawwali session.
Delhi is probably the most culturally diverse city in the country and it will make you watch life through rose-colored glasses. So, watch out for that as well.
